PUMA (Performance and Competency Management Application) is a platform that measures students’ activity-based competencies through performance and competency evaluation. It assesses students’ competencies by evaluating the activities they participate in both on and off campus, their achievements in trainings, and their contributions and engagements.

Similarly, in universities, not only students’ attendance in courses but also their participation in campus life activities, active roles in projects, and involvement in social events directly influence their overall performance.

Such activities enable students to develop new skills or strengthen existing ones. Competencies such as leadership, teamwork, and time management are fundamental pillars of success in professional life. For example, a student who has taken a leadership role in a project enhances their problem-solving and decision-making abilities, which allows them to perform more effectively in future professional roles. The data collected within the application calculates the areas in which individuals are more competent and helps clarify their interests. Competency-based scoring systems provide feedback, showing individuals which areas they need to improve.

The Global Skills Taxonomy, developed by the World Economic Forum (WEF), is a framework that categorizes and standardizes critical skills for the modern workforce. It has been prepared with reference to recognized frameworks such as ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations) and O*NET (Occupational Information Network).

The Global Skills Taxonomy provides a structured way to define skills that are in demand across industries and geographies. It is divided into categories such as cognitive, technical, social, and emotional skills, highlighting the importance of competencies such as analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, technological literacy, and leadership.
